Our town is one of the youngest in Ukraine. It was founded in 1950’s as a
seaport town, which helped to unlade the congested port of Odessa. Since then
Ilyichevsk has changed dramatically and now it looks more like a small European
town than like an underdeveloped satellite of Odessa. It is beloved by its
locals and it makes deep impression on tourists, leaving good memories and
making them wish to come back again and again. The population of Ilyichevsk is
about 70.000 people and it grows twice in the summer time at the cost of
tourists and vacationers.
Wonderful sea, sandy beaches, nice promenade,
shady plane-tree alleys, numerous cozy cafes with open sun-lounges, fountains,
decorated houses – all this will make you fall in love with our town.
Ilyichevsk is one of the most economically developed towns in Ukraine,
which certainly has a positive effect on its exterior and on the level of living
of the local
population.
Infrastructure
Ilyichevsk is very
"civilized” from the point of view of its infrastructure. Scheduled buses run
between Ilyichevsk and Odessa every 5-10 minutes from early morning till 10.30
in the night. There is a convenient system of transport communication with
neighboring towns and villages. Many taxi companies provide their services 24
hour a day with a standard fee of about 1 euro to any location within the town
limits. There are two supermarkets: Tavria-B (closes at 11 pm) and Virtus (open
24 hours). Besides the town hospital there is a private medical center IntoSana,
always ready to handle your sickness and render a qualified medical assistance
in case of emergency. A developed network of banks and currency exchange
offices. Banks of Ilyichevsk maintain the majority of the most popular money
transfer systems such as Western Union, PayPal, Anelik, Leader, Contact, Migom,
Blizko, PrivatMoney etc. There are two post offices and a railway ticket office
open from 9 am till 7 pm seven days a week.
Town
beach
It is a nice sandy beach in a quiet beautiful bay. The bed
of the sea is clean, rock-free, sandy and flat, which is very convenient for
children. Shopping areas are available at the beach all day long, where you can
buy food, drinks, ice-cream etc. Also there are plenty of summer amusements such
as hydrocycles, bananas, water skis etc. Free entrance.
Cafes,
restaurants, clubs
Ilyichevsk is rich in cozy restaurants, bars
and cafes. All of them have different menu lists following cuisine traditions of
various countries - here you can find to your taste Georgian, Armenian,
European, Japanese, Chinese, Italian and, of course, Ukrainian food. Try a real
Ukrainian borsch with pampushkas, homemade vareniks and other traditional dishes
in the "Kupava” restaurant situated in the 1st of May street – you won’t miss it
as it is decorated in the traditional Ukrainian style.
There are several
night clubs in Ilyichevsk with the most popular among them – the Metropolis club
(15 Parkovaya street). The building looks like ancient Greek ruins. All year
round the club offers a diversified program: DJ nights, dancing parties, modern
music parties, corporative parties, holiday programs, bowling, pizzeria, summer
disco on the beach, etc.
